SHORT BREAK, SHROPSHIRE ,ENGLAND.
Shrewsbury and Ludlow.
05.04.2021
--- I call this a Short break, really it is a 2 night stay in Shrewsbury ,in the English Midlands, on my way to South of Wales UK. I stayed at a Guest House near the Railway Station, having travelled from York by train. I did't know much about Shrewsbury or Ludlow, so
it was a pleasant surprise of both places. Both places are in the County of Shropshire
England. Shrewsbury is a large Market town, on the river Severn. Altitude is 71m.
the distance from London is 150 miles. The country of Wales is 9 miles to the border. - Shrewsbury centre
is a medieval plan. Several timber framed buildings and a red bricked Castle, a fortification from 1074 AD, situated above the rail station. Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Robert Darwin, he was born in 1809. He was an English Naturalist. - Two hundred years after is birth , a huge sculpture was erected in Mardol Gardens near the river. There is also a fine statue of him in front of his former school, now a library. --- I took the train to Ludlow, about a 30 minute ride,.

Hi Alec, I've been to Shrewsbury and thought it was lovely. Ludlow is on my to do list. Hope things are getting a bit better covid wise in the UK. I'm hoping to get vaccinated soon. I should have been already but our vaccinations were stopped due to faulty packaging.
